Associate Interior Designer

The Associate Interior Designer position requires at least 2 years of working experience inside a professional design firm with excellent references.

Associate Interior Designers are the engine that keeps our projects moving. Their primary focus is to assist the Lead Designers while also working with Bridget McMullin to create and develop designs, manage client relationships and deliver a seamless install. Associates that possess and prove their ability to manage multiple projects seamlessly, as well as network for the MDG brand, will be considered for advancement.

Consideration of applicants will be based upon the following:

  • Knowledge of residential furniture lines and the skill set to accurately specify and price them
  • Experience with inputting surveys and use of CAD including space planning
  • Organization skills and project management experience is a bonus
  • Documentation of construction drawings and specifications. Applicants must be able to produce sample work for review during an interview to be considered.

The ideal candidate should also possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial and/or residential design practices
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD to support projects, which include completing the following for Interior Design Packages: floor plans, furniture plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, electrical plans, interior elevations, interior details, millwork details, ceiling details, etc.​
  • Knowledge of the following: architectural interior design concepts, practices, design codes, construction documentation and specification, interior materials, finishes, detailing, residential furniture lines including sourcing, specifying, and pricing
  • Select and develop interior finishes and specifications packages while being able to confidently prepare color palettes and finish vision boards for clients
  • Excellent attention to deal and highly organized
  • Great communication skills for corresponding on emails between clients, staff and sales reps, as well as answering the office phone
  • Team player with the ability to work as support staff for the Lead Designers
  • Ability to lift between 45 to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to travel to job sites as well as High Point Furniture Market at least once a year
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autocad, Quickbooks (or equivalent)
  • NCIDQ Certification is a plus
