CAD Tech, Interior Designer with a Cad Intensive Background, or a Residential Architect (License Not Required):

The CAD Technician is responsible for the design documentation of MDG projects. The focus of this position is to provide comprehensive and accurate construction documents and specification packages to our clients.

The CAD Technician will work in junction with the Lead Designer and Bridget McMullin to deliver a strong construction document package.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture or Interior Design, unless skill set for residential construction documentation can be demonstrated
Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial and/or residential design practices
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD to provide support on projects which include completing the following for Interior Design Packages: floor plans, furniture plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, electrical plans, interior elevations, interior details, millwork details, ceiling details, etc.
3D Rendering using Sketch Up, Podium or Chief Architect is a plus
Ability to conduct and complete an on-site survey with or without the support of the Lead Designer
Strong knowledge of the following: architectural interior design concepts, practices, design codes, construction documentation and specification, interior materials, finishes and detailing, residential furniture lines – including sourcing, specifying, and pricing
Excellent attention to detail and highly organized – good recall memory
Great communication skills for corresponding on emails between clients, staff and sales reps, as well as answering the office phone
Team Player with the ability to work as support staff for the Lead Designers
Ability to lift between 45 to 50 lbs.
Flexibility to travel to job sites as well as High Point Furniture Market at least once a year
Valid driver’s license required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autocad, Quickbooks (or equivalent)
Rendering skills are a big plus
