Lead Interior Designer

The Lead Designer is responsible for the design and management of multiple projects.

This position is responsible for managing client relationships through all phases, from the initial consult and design process to finishing the installation. Lead Designers manage their work team and set the direction and pace for work to be completed. The Lead Designer is also responsible for coordinating with architects, structural engineers, general contractors and sub-contractors to produce a successful and beautiful project.

Consideration will only be given to applicants who can demonstrate:

  • Management of large-scale projects from start to finish. MDG’s typical projects range anywhere from 2000 to over 7000 sq ft.
  • Organizational skills to project manage multiple projects at once
  • Documentation of construction drawings and specifications created by the applicant. Applicants must be able to produce sample work for review during an interview to be considered.
  • Knowledge of residential furniture lines and the skill set to accurately specify and price them

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Minimum of 7 years+ experience in commercial and/or residential design
  • Must be able to bring client through planning, construction and decorating process from concept to installation
  • Strong knowledge of the following: architectural interior design concepts, practices, design codes, construction documentation and specification, interior materials, finishes, detailing, and residential furniture lines – including sourcing, specifying, and pricing
  • Conduct meetings with client, contractors and/or sub-contractors in the MDG Office, at project sites, or at any other location deemed necessary for the completion of the project
  • Ability to complete construction documentation, specifications, millwork detailing, client presentations, and product estimates
  • Team Player with the ability to assist in training new associates and junior designers
  • Ability to lift between 45 to 50 lbs
  • Flexibility to travel to job sites as well as High Point Furniture Market at least once a year
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autocad, Quickbooks (or equivalent)
  • NCIDQ Certification is a plus
