Molding Detail: The Missing Piece in your House

One of the easiest ways to “spruce up” a residence is to add simple trim details. Details such as crown molding, wainscoting, and flat stock wall trim are good ways to add visual interest without major construction. Older “McMansion” style homes have lots of space, but price points were kept low by not adding these finer details that can elevate the look of your home’s interior. As for newer homes, they tend to have trim details, but those details are usually very cookie-cutter and do not consider scale or visual impact. The McMullin Design Group are masters of making spaces look great by paying careful attention to these details. Here are three projects where we took a “blah” room and made them sing with trim!

This client in Medford, NJ wanted to accentuate their Family Room. This 1×4 flat stock trim framed with 1.75” panel cap molding adds visual interest to this 2-story focal point Family Room wall.

This Ambler, PA client wanted to bring down the scale of their 2-story Family Room. This 1×6 flat stock trim with interior slanted panel trim and top edge back band molding detail, brings the scale of the room down a bit. Adding the decorative wallcovering gives an extra cozy feeling to this 2-story Family Room.

Also wanting to bring a sense of “coziness” to their 2-story family room, this Voorhees, NJ client decided to add V-Groove wall paneling with a solid cap & bullnose trim edge to their focal point wall.
