Chef Jose Garces decided to move quickly to create an outdoor experience for his University City restaurant during the COVID crisis in 2020. The goal was to create a budget friendly quick assembly that could be taken down and reconstructed every season that also followed COVID protocols.

In less than two weeks, I developed a plan for the space that incorporated the colors, atmosphere, and themes of the restaurant’s interior and presented the concept through a detailed rendering package. Approval was immediate, and less than eight weeks after the design process began, the previously unused space was transformed into a fully functioning outdoor dining destination.
